We are Bailey and Shadow and we are pet ministers at St. Luke’s UMC; we visit The Seniors Place monthly. When the big day arrives and we hear, ‘Let’s go to church!’, we both get so excited—we can hardly stand it. The word “church” means love, dog friends, and treats!
At TSP, we know just where to go, and we trot in eagerly to many smiles and much applause. Shadow works the room, visiting each person and receiving lots of petting, while Bailey is the comic relief. We love our TSP friends. They are all so happy to see us. Having a sweet dog to pet is pleasurable to just about anyone. We don’t care that someone may have Alzheimer’s, we just love unconditionally. And our friends receive this love with grateful hearts. As one of our TSP friends says, “Pets help ease loneliness and bring joy.”
