Running for cover
On the last day of school, fifth-grade students at Rummel Creek Elementary enjoyed the longstanding tradition known as Boogie Down Brittmore. The final bell sent students running as fast as they could from school – dodging water balloons and parents wielding water guns – down Brittmore Street, all the way to the Plaza Oaks Pool, where the graduation party splashed into high gear.

Together all the way
Of the 54 kindergarten students who attended Frostwood Elementary in 1998, 55 percent of them will be a part of the Memorial High School Class of 2010. This special group of kids has shared everything from Pink Piggy Day to eighth-grade dances. They look forward to still being together for senior prom and caps and gowns next spring. The 30 alumni enjoyed hanging out on the Frostwood playground, just like old times.

Battle of the business bands
The 2009 Battle of the Business Bands rocked with some of the best bands in town led by Houston CEOs and executives. The high-energy event was held at Warehouse Live and showcased five bands competing for the grand prize of a Fender electric guitar. The winner, selected by a combination of votes from judges, DJs and quick-texting fans, was The Mighty Profits, who energized the crowd with their version of the Metallica song Enter Sandman as its finale. Pictured with their victory guitar are band mates Jack Brandt (guitar, vocals), Steve Myers (harmonica, vocals), Ty Hoffer (drums) and Mark Leary (guitar, vocals). Not pictured is Joe Holland (bass).

Poolside graduation fiesta
Family friends since birth, Blaine and Sheridan Gabrisch, along with parents Mark and Kelly Gabrisch, threw a poolside fiesta graduation party for Shelby and Libby Burgher. The twins’ sister, Brooke Burgher, came in town from Texas A&M to join the celebration. Pictured celebrating their achievements are from left Sheridan and Blaine Gabrisch and Shelby, Libby and Brooke Burgher.
