Taking the Keys Away

The Buzz Magazines is hosting a teen/young adult forum on Monday, August 16th at 7:00 pm. The topic is taking the keys from an intoxicated friend or family member.

We want to hear from teens and young adults who have been put in awkward situations trying to take car keys away from friends who have had too much to drink. Do you know someone who thinks they are a better driver when they are drunk?

No one will be judged or shamed. This forum is specifically about taking the keys from a friend. This forum is by no means meant to be a lecture or make anyone feel uncomfortable. We just want to hear real life stories that hopefully help prevent one more life from being lost.

All participants will be anonymous although comments may appear in an upcoming article.

The forum will provide a chance to hear thoughts and advice from Crystal Morrison, licensed counselor for Youth Prevention and Clinical Services at The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston. She will moderate questions from students, parents, and community members regarding this topic.

Date: Monday August 16th

Time: 7:00 pm until approximately 9:00 pm

Place: 4810 Glenmont, Bellaire, Texas 77401

RSVP: (joni@thebuzzmagazines.com) joni (at) thebuzzmagazines (dot) com or 713-668-4157 ext 12

Kudos to the young adults that attended the Buzz Forum last night. The speaker, Crystal Morrison, a licensed counselor for the Youth Prevention Center at the Houston Chapter on Alcohol & Drug Abuse was impressed that a group of 16 young adults ages 16-22 had the integrity, courage and confidence to spend one of their final nights of summer at our forum. The group now has life-saving tools and advice to be prepared should they find themselves with a friend or family member who is intoxicated. Stories from the participants will no doubt help others make better decisions that involve preventing alcohol and/or drug-related accidents. Stay tuned for an upcoming Buzz feature on this vital topic.
