Liam Amling

Liam Amling

Liam Amling (pictured), 10, participated in the MS 150, a fundraising bike ride from Houston to Austin. Sponsored by BP, the event raises money to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Liam and his grandfather, “Opi,” worked together to raise more than $800 for the event. Because of weather conditions, the first day of the race was canceled. The Amling family camped out in La Grange, and Liam and his father, Stefan, woke up early in the morning to ride from La Grange to Austin. To prepare for the race, Liam and Stefan rode every weekend for five months. Competitive racing runs in the family, as Stefan is training for an upcoming Ironman competition. In addition to the MS 150, Liam competes in four or five triathlons each year. In January, he ran the Houston half marathon with a time most adults can only dream of: 1 hour and 47 minutes.
