Supporters of Halo House Foundation gathered for the eighth annual gala, Reach for the Stars, at The Ballroom at Bayou Place downtown. The evening raised money for Halo House’s new facility, currently under construction with plans to open June 2019. It will be the largest housing facility in the United States for blood cancer patients. The evening began with a message from the International Space Station from NASA astronaut Dr. Serena Auñón-Chancellor congratulating Halo House. Macquarie Energy’s Nick O’Kane received the 2018 Halo Award for his support over the years. The event raised over $450,000. Pictured are Shazia Khan and Mike Pack, board members, at the gala. Halo House was founded by MD Anderson Cancer Center oncologist Dr. Nathan Fowler and his mother, retired business owner Kathleen Fowler.
